Once the internet was created, websites followed; the ability to create a location on the internet that allowed information and graphics to be displayed made the electronic bulletin boards almost extinct. It is ironic though that they are now returning in the form of blogs and forums! Here are some facts* about the start
of website technology:



Invented in 1989 by a British man named Tim Berners-Lee in Switzerland
  • The web was very simple at this point: HTML, server, basic browser
  • Changed in 1991 with the influence of Paul Kunz
  • The two set up an experiment to send 300,000 references from Switzerland to America
  • Was soon given the name World Wide Web.
  • 1993 Marc Andreesen developed Mosaic, the first web browser for the masses
